From the Archive: PA
I guess you can call this part of a “series” I did out here in Pittsburgh. This was during a period when my roommate Paul and I were obsessed with DJ Krush- his music and the Yakuza. The pieces are all collages of magazine clippings and sketchbook doodles. Each panel is about 20 in. x 24 in. and consist of foam board, extra large photocopies, paint pens, and good old fashioned spray paint.
From the Archive
Coming at you from The Media Science’s archive is a piece I did that ended up being entirely what I hadn’t planned. Originally the design was slated to be a clean black canvas with “media” written in an electrobolt 3 times in different neon colors to create something that could probably one day be crisp wrapping paper. Instead, I arrived at this Obey-inspired canvas with Kim Jong Il on the front with his posse. 18″ x 36″ on canvas via spraypaint and marker.
alpha phi
drew managed to get me some work doing a couple of designs for alpha phi sorority here in berkeley. what appeared to be a routine job turned into a tumultuous few weeks. almost every possible thing went wrong from design to print. however, i learned a ton about how to approach designer/client relations and it was the first time i printed girls underwear.
Recycled News
Perhaps inspired by Media Science headquarters in Fullerton, CA, my roommate and I have done a similar news stand piece here in the big PA. But instead of a spray paint holder, this one is actually a lamp with a simple $5 workshop light inside. All wheatpastes were hand draw then vectorized by either me or Paul. The one is obviously a Dave Kinsey inspired old man and the other is of Biggie in a similar fashion of Shepard Fairy’s Obey Giant. We were going for the classic early 90’s feel so its painted orange. Come on, I know everyone loves and misses those simpler times.
Welcome to the new blog.

So I’ve setup wordpress and tweaked a theme a bit to be very simple and useful for our needs. Myself, Brandon, and Jesse Chorng will post project news here, or anything we’re currently working on. Photos are of the utmost importance… or well they should but won’t be until Brandon drops a ton of cash on a DSLR. Combined, we will create the most elitest, artsy, and effective blog the interweb(s) have ever seen.
Above is a favor I did for a friend, Danielle. She apparently needs a shirt that involves dancing and some sort of team involving her viet last name. Thankfully, iPod ads are in abundance on the tubes.
So go forth, blogosphere… report again and again on the existance of THE MEDIA SCIENCE and the world will serve you well!
