Store Watch: WeSC, Stussy, & Undefeated LA
During spring break I had the opportunity to get to know LA a little better… a city that has not yet been plagued by allover-print and endlessly overcast weather [thanks, bay area]. I scoured online magazines and a few hit lists until coming up with a decisive strategy:
- Downtown LA
- Blends
- Situation Normal
- La Brea
- Volcom
- Undefeated
- Stussy
- Beverly Hills
- WeSC
The day was really successful and I’m really surprised I didn’t get lost for not knowing a damn thing about getting around the city sprawl… gg, google maps… gg. More photos & readables after the jump.
[Blends LA] - Nice selection of shoes as usual. Wasn’t too impressed with the layout of the store, as it consisted of this rack and a smaller shoe rack above a selection of tees. The rest of the store had an old motorcycle and what seemed to be a cage with obscure decoratives including shoes, helmet, skeleton bull head.
[Stussy LA] - Good selection of bags, which is something that’s harder to find. Oversized, heavy hoodies and many streetwear kids eyeballing New Era caps in the corner. The KAWS wall art was pretty awesome, as you can see here.
[Undefeated LA] - The guys inside wouldn’t let me take any photos but let me just say that this is the most creative looking shop I’ve ever been to. Gigantic (read: some odd 18′ x 10′ I estimate) 3-panel wall Air Force One photo ad. Waterfall and live stream running behind sitting area. Many custom built-in parts throughout the store with the Undefeated branding. Mostly shoes were offered, but there were a small selection of New Era caps, hoodies, and a glass case of Undefeated vinyl toys.
[WESC LA] - Store hasn’t been remodeled since last time I was there about 6 or so months ago. New wall art to match the latest season’s offerings and theme “Let’s get Physical (with WeSC).” Lots of stuff for both guys and girls alike as WeSC tends to push itself as a “street fashion” brand rather than “streetwear”. As I had a camera, the store manager and head design lead Geoff asked me what I was up to and talked to me at length about what they try to push as a brand. He even offered to link to THE MEDIA SCIENCE and was really interested of what I thought of the store… overall he was a pretty awesome guy. The president of WeSC even came into the store while I was chatting with Geoff, though he looked pretty busy so I didn’t bother him with a photo.
haha i go to those stores a lot. you should go to supreme too on third street.
Ah forgot about that one, courtney.
