sigma kappa sorority collaboration

It's Drew, I was approached by alice cheung to create shirts for her sororities spring rush. She heard of us through the facebook, an online directory for college students.

She asked for 70 shirts with design services. I was happy to make an "interpretation" of what she wanted when she said "have it involve doves and hearts or some shit like that." She sent me a descriptive drawing using ms paint:

note: intricate.

After some careful revising and toying with ideas in my head, I gave her the one next do it.

I produced the shirts all by myself since brandon was busy winning battle of the bands in 3rd place. It was still my winter break so I had time to help him make robots too. More pictures on that later. Anyhow, it went pretty smooth but most of the positioning on the shirt was done by eye-balling and freehanding it. One could call it a defect or inconsistency, but it adds personality to each shirt.

It took me so long to finish the first print of the shirts. There was a LOT of ink and a LOT of drying to be done with only 1 guy and 1 heat gun that kept tripping our cirucut. Luckily, we have a spot dryer now to save time and save our patience from cracking.

Thankfully, the warehouse had been progressing well in chill-ness so I had an easy time making the place feel like home by taking breaks on the couch, listening to the same Cake CD about 24 times, and raping our restroom. Now that the posters are up and the robots are watching over us, we will eternally be safe inside those instable walls.

Anyhow, the next day I got to printing the pink set. This was a little harder because not only did I have to triple-dry the brown print to make sure it was done, the pink text had to be in alignment. Again, there were a few offsets but nothing too major and the shirts turned out pretty cool.

I dried everything, then spraypainted the box that it was to be shipped in with a few stencils in black and red.

the finished result: awesome

The girls pretty much loved the shirts because they were so much different than the plain wrap "This is my sorority's name. Look at it. It's big across my chest. I don't think you realize that this shirt is so cool. Ok so it isn't. I hate my life."

Thank you Sigma Kappa for supporting independent firms!
